About KoSIF

About KoSIF
KoSIF connects finance, business, policy and global initiatives to advance sustainability in Korea.

The Korea Sustainability Investing Forum (KoSIF) is Korea’s first non-profit think tank specializing in sustainable finance. Established in 2007 to advance Socially Responsible Investment (SRI), KoSIF works to embed sustainability into finance, business, and public policy.

Our work spans ESG and CSR research, policy recommendations, legislative support, international cooperation, education, and public awareness. Through these activities, we support the development of a market environment where financial institutions and companies can integrate sustainability into financial and business decision-making and practice.

KoSIF played a leading role in establishing the CDP Korea Committee to expand environmental disclosure in Korea. We also support the adoption and implementation of global sustainability initiatives — including TCFD, PCAF, RE100, EV100, and SBTi — across Korea’s financial and corporate sectors.

ESG Ecosystem

The global economy is undergoing a major transition toward sustainability. ESG has become central to how companies and investors create long-term value, manage risk, and respond to changing market expectations.

A well-functioning ESG ecosystem requires alignment between corporate sustainability practices, capital allocation, and public policy. It also depends on reliable ESG information, credible disclosure systems, and collaboration among market participants to accelerate sustainable transformation.

KoSIF works to strengthen this ecosystem by connecting finance, business, policy, and civil society. As a non-profit think tank, we provide research, policy recommendations, and practical platforms that support a more sustainable and resilient market.

How the ESG market works: a flow diagram linking policy changes, companies, financial institutions, and financial consumers through ESG information, disclosure, and oversight
  • Companies — Identify, manage, and disclose business risks and opportunities.
  • Financial Institutions — Make investment, insurance, and lending decisions based on corporate ESG disclosures, and disclose how those decisions are made.
  • Rating & Assurance Providers — Assess and verify ESG information based on transparent and objective standards.
  • Consumers & Investors — Make informed consumption and investment decisions using credible ESG information.
  • Government Bodies — Establish policies, oversee markets, and create enabling conditions for sustainable capital flows.

Advancing a Sustainable Society

KoSIF’s work is built around three interconnected pillars.

  • Sustainable Finance

We support financial institutions in integrating ESG factors into investment, lending, insurance and other financial decisions — helping channel capital toward a sustainable economy.

  • Corporate Sustainability

We support companies in strengthening ESG-based strategies, improving transparency, and advancing responsible business practices through sustainability disclosure.

  • Policy & Legislation

We contribute to policy and legislative discussions that strengthen the institutional foundation for sustainable markets.
