KoSIF and Korea Accounting Institute (KAI) Sign MOU on Sustainability
Disclosure
The Korea Sustainability
Investing Forum (KoSIF, CEO Karl Yang) and the Korea Accounting Institute (KAI,
President Kwak Byung-jin) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to
advance the Korean Sustainability Disclosure Standards (KSDS) and foster an
ecosystem for sustainability information disclosure. Under the agreement, the
two organizations will jointly contribute to the growth of that ecosystem by
advancing the Standards and supporting their implementation.
The MOU aims to strengthen Korea's sustainability disclosure ecosystem by advancing the KSDS, supporting their implementation, and enhancing international alignment. The two organizations agreed on the need to reinforce the foundation of Korea's disclosure regime in response to changes in the global landscape, including tighter international environmental regulations and the growing number of major economies mandating sustainability disclosure.
As key areas of cooperation, the two organizations will work to advance the KSDS, strengthen alignment between related regulatory frameworks, and help companies and financial institutions build their implementation capabilities. Specifically, they will cooperate to establish the legal and institutional basis for sustainability disclosure, enhance international alignment, and promote sustainable finance. They also plan to collaborate on matters of mutual interest, including sustainability-related research and studies as well as information sharing.
Moving forward, the two
organizations will continue to cooperate to ensure that Korea's sustainability
disclosure regime takes firm root and that companies strengthen their
implementation capabilities.
